"Life is either a great adventure or nothing."

My love for language, learning and adventure began early in life. I can remember falling asleep in a pile of books when I was in lower elementary. I would flip through books searching for a new adventure in a make-believe land with fictional characters that inspired and intrigued me. I longed for experiences that would deliver me from ordinary life. As I grew older I became fascinated with foreign languages; the exotic sound of words spoken by other cultures lured me in to a world unknown, but a world that was begging to be discovered. I began studying Spanish in high school and my teacher was the one who inspired me to study education. As I continued my studies, the desire to experience the language in context grew and grew until one day I decided to visit Spain, then Mexico, then Costa Rica, each place offering a unique flavor of the Spanish language. Although the countries may share a language, each place is influenced heavily by the ancient societies which originally populated the land and yet simultaneously by pop-culture and globalization.

My experiences with language and different cultures will forever be a part of me, a part that I hope continually sparks curiosity and a desire to try to understand and communicate with others. I now live in Europe with my wonderful husband and son and we continue to discover new places and attempt to understand different cultures. German is the languages I am currently trying to acquire. I worked in a bilingual school for 8 year and in 2015 I completed my Master of Arts in Education. I truly enjoyed teaching in a classroom with students whose roots originate in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. Each child has a different perspective to share and every individual in the classroom has the opportunity to learn and grow in their understanding of one another. Having students with varying cultural backgrounds may complicate things at times but it also adds a lot of depth and flavor to the learning environment. I hope to continue my discovery of different cultures through my teaching experiences and love for travel.
